I saw Experian released a tool that scans if your email has been stolen and shared. But it only came up with 5 results for my freebies email address and it wanted to charge me $9.99 a month to keep monitoring. HaveIBeenPwned had 7 results and it gives free monitoring for your email address (or multiple addresses). It doesn’t monitor credit card or social security numbers like a paid service, but it’s a wonderful free service I’ve been subscribed to for many years. And in addition to your email address, it tells you other information that was stolen for example: Dates of birth, Email addresses, Instant messenger identities, IP addresses, Passwords, Usernames, Website activity. So it gives you a good idea what was stolen even if it doesn’t monitor other information. I highly suggest it if you want any alerts of when your information has been listed for sale on the internet in any way.

What is “Pwned”? Pwned is slang for being “owned” or in other words it means “compromised” in a breach or hack in this case.
How to get free breach alerts:
- Visit the companies website by clicking “Get This Offer (External Website)”
- Enter your email address to see if it’s been breached and hit “pwned?” to see if you have been “pwned” already.
- If you are happy with the results, then hit “Notify Me” or go here and enter your email and confirm your email address by clicking the link they send via email. After that you’ll get alerts as they happen, hopefully you don’t hear from them soon!
