What Is Disney Plus?
Disney Plus is an easy choice for anyone with kids living at home, but there are plenty of adults-only households that will want it too. That’s because Disney Plus is where it’s possible to watch all sorts of classic films and television series that were produced by Disney.

However, that’s not all that you’ll find here. After acquiring Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, the Muppets and more, Disney Plus is the place to watch no matter what your tastes for entertainment may be.
Disney Plus has put its creation of original content into overdrive, with new series premiering on a regular basis. Many of them have become cultural phenomenons that might be giving you serious FOMO if you aren’t a subscriber.
As if all of the outstanding content weren’t enough, Disney Plus looks great with its accessible, easy-to-use interfaces and its desirable features such as offline downloads, personalized viewing recommendations and 4K streaming.
Established in 2019, it hasn’t taken long for the streaming service to acquire 130 million subscribers. That may not equal Netflix’s global subscribers, but it hasn’t stopped Disney Plus from becoming one of the most popular streaming services in the world thanks to franchises like Star Wars and The Avengers.

Overall, Disney Plus is a solid deal. It’s inexpensive, and it’s always ad-free. It’s possible to add seven profiles to an account and no limits are placed on downloads.
How Much Does Disney Plus Cost?
If you want to subscribe to Disney Plus, it will cost you $7.99 per month, though you can pre-pay for a full year, which will run you about $80. For that price, you get access to the entire Disney Plus library. You won’t be charged any extra for enjoying HDR and 4K streaming, which is the case with a Netflix subscription. At this time, no free trials of Disney Plus are available, but you can pay for a month and then cancel if you change your mind.
The Walt Disney Company has an interest in Hulu, and it owns ESPN. Unsurprisingly, it is possible to buy bundles that include Disney Plus, Hulu and ESPN Plus. The $19.99 per month pricing isn’t bad, and your subscriptions will get you plenty of access to Disney-owned content as well as network television on Hulu and sports on ESPN Plus. While Disney Plus does not offer live television, Hulu does. With an additional cost of about $70 per month, this adds considerably to the price, but it may be worth it if you love having live television as an option.
If you already are a Hulu subscriber, then you may be able to add a Disney Plus subscription for a nominal per month charge. Usually, this costs approximately three dollars per month. Considering all of the great content on Disney Plus, it’s a really reasonable price.
What Devices Can You Use to Watch Disney Plus?
Like other heavy hitters such as Netflix and Hulu, Disney Plus is available on virtually every platform. Your desktop web browser may be a good place to start, especially if you need to sign up for an account.
Once signed up, Disney Plus can be viewed via any streaming device like a Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast or Apple TV. Mobile phones running Android and iOS will play Disney Plus just fine, and so will most gaming consoles like the Sony PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series S/X.

You don’t need a cable subscription or any other special access to view all of the Disney Plus content.
What Can You Watch on Disney Plus?
The list of content on Disney Plus is long and varied. Obviously, the company has been around for many decades. For most of that time, they’ve been producing films, cartoon shorts, television series, documentaries and more. The acquisition of 21st Century Fox in recent years means that Disney owns an even larger library of movies and shows. Some of these are housed at Hulu, especially those that are intended for more mature audiences. This means that having a bundle of Hulu and Disney Plus may be valuable for many families.
The Disney Plus television catalog includes upcoming originals and existing shows. Classic Disney Channel shows like That’s So Raven, Even Stevens, The Suite Life of Zach and Cody, Kim Possible, Phineas and Ferb and Lizzie Maguire all are found here as are The Simpsons. For Family Guy, King of the Hill, Futurama and Bob’s Burgers, you’ll have to sign in to Hulu.
The originals on Disney Plus run the gamut from High School Musical: The Musical: The Series to The Mandalorian. With Hero Project, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, WandaVision, The World According to Jeff Goldblum, Loki and Encore among many others, it’s clear that Disney Plus is a force to be reckoned with. Original series are being introduced all the time. Plus, if you were a fan of the Jessica Jones and Daredevil series over on Netflix, you’ll be happy to know that they’ve found a new home on Disney Plus.
When it comes to films, the library at Disney Plus may not surpass those that are presented by Amazon Prime, Hulu or Netflix, but it does contain a great deal of essential viewing. Classic Disney films are all here as are Star Wars films, Pixar and Marvel.
While there may not be as many movies on Disney Plus as there are on other services, it is easy to declare that the offerings here tend to have overall higher quality. Two animated films, Soul and Luca, premiered directly on the streaming service without charging subscribers an extra fee for viewing.
Black Widow and Cruella both debuted on Disney Plus on the same days that they hit theaters in 2021, but Disney Plus did charge a one-time fee to stream these titles. At between $30 and $35, these were premium prices, but they likely are competitive with what it would cost to take the whole family to the theater. It is probable that more films will be released in this manner in the future. If you can wait a few months, you’ll be able to view them on Disney Plus without extra charge.

Live action movies on Disney Plus include entries from the Pirates of the Caribbean series, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Avatar, Remember the Titans, The Sound of Music, Miracle on 34th Street and The Sandlot. Examples of classic animated films include Peter Pan, The Emperor’s New Groove, Moana, The Lion King, Zootopia, Lilo & Stitch, Frozen, Fantasia, Aladdin, The Jungle Book, Bambi, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Oliver and Company and Mulan.
Pixar movies are present as well. Some of the favorites include The Incredibles, Finding Nemo, Brave, WALL-E, Ratatouille, Monsters Inc. and Cars.
You’ll also find all of the Star Wars and Marvel films here, making it a top destination for fans of sci-fi and comic book adaptations.
Disney similarly owns a piece of National Geographic, so you’ll find a wealth of documentaries here too.
How Can You View and Maintain Your Account?
Once you have obtained an account, you may occasionally need to make changes to it or review your plan. The easiest way to do this is by visiting the www.disneyplus.com website.
Look at the top right-hand corner of the screen for the words “My Profile” and an icon. Let your mouse hover over this area to open a drop-down menu that has options for “Add Profile,” “Edit Profiles,” “App Settings,” “Account,” “Help,” and “Log Out.”
Adding a profile is a cinch. The first step is choosing an avatar from categories such as Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, Kids, Mickey and Friends, Disney Classics, Villains, Disney Princesses, Disney Channel, The Simpsons, The Muppets and X-Men. After selecting an Avatar, add a name to the profile and select whether or not the profile belongs to a kid. Profiles for children feature curated content and a simplified interface.
Click the “Save Profile” button and select the content rating for “full catalog” if this profile will have access to the entire library. You’ll have to enter your Disney Plus password at this point to verify your rating choice. Next, you can choose to add a PIN to access the profile. Select “Not now” if this isn’t necessary.
Each profile can be revised at any time by choosing “Edit Profiles” from the initial drop down menu.

How Do You Cancel Disney Plus?
If you ever decide that Disney Plus isn’t right for your family, just log in to the Disney Plus account on your computer or mobile browser. Choose your profile and then Account. Under the Subscription heading, select your Disney Plus subscription. Select Cancel Subscription twice to stop your access to Disney Plus programming.
How Do You Contact Customer Support?
You can find the answers to many common questions simply by signing into your account on the Disney Plus website. Choose the “Help” link under your profile to be taken directly to the Disney Plus Help Center.
On the main page, you can type in your question or browse through the categories presented below. These categories include Getting Started, Troubleshooting, Manage My Account and Watching Disney Plus. Within these categories are numerous articles that will probably give you the direction you need.
If they do not, then you can contact live support on a 24/7 basis. Your choices are a live chat or calling 888-905-7888. There’s also an option for sharing feedback.
Is Disney Plus Worth It?
In most households where kids are present, Disney Plus is pretty much a foregone conclusion. However, this relatively new streaming service has an impressive content catalog that even adults are certain to enjoy.
If you have watched Marvel or Star Wars films on the big screen, then Disney Plus is a great choice. If you love Pixar films, then you can’t go wrong with this service. What about The Muppets, The Simpsons and National Geographic? You’ll find those on Disney Plus too.
Overall, Disney Plus is a formidable entry in the streaming services field. They boast an incredible catalog of classic Disney fare that most people will find familiar and comforting. Chances are good that you also will encounter some forgotten favorites that you loved when you were growing up.
Disney Plus is an affordable service as well. At about eight dollars per month for a stand alone subscription, it’s not a huge cost at all. If you already are a Hulu subscriber, you could add Disney Plus to your membership for about three dollars per month. That seems like a minuscule price to pay for so much entertainment.
The creative minds over at Disney Plus are generating new content all the time. Many of these series and movies are responsible for tons of buzz around the water cooler, so you’ll definitely want to be involved.
Give Disney Plus a try if you have kids or are a kid at heart.
