What Is FuboTV?

Are you a sports fan? If so, then it is definitely time that you heard about FuboTV. However, this streaming service is more than just athletics. With the potential to bring your household hundreds of channels at a single price, FuboTV could be a good choice for just about anyone.

FuboTV has quite a bit going for it. It’s a reliable service that has a user-friendly interface. Because it brings you a broad range of live sports and on-demand entertainment, it gives you some fairly varied options. The cloud-based DVR works well, and you can access some programming in 4K.

Like all streaming services, FuboTV is not perfect. It seems a bit expensive, particularly if you opt for any add-ons. Moreover, you can’t access absolutely everything that you might want to watch through this service. The Turner channels, A&E and Bally Sports are among the choices that are not available through FuboTV. It’s further worth noting that most live streams are brought to you in 720p. With today’s super-high resolution televisions, this just won’t be good enough for some viewers.

Still, FuboTV remains a good choice for viewers who want to cut the cable cord but still want access to sports and prime-time programming live. In fact, the main reason to get FuboTV is that it provides coverage of sports at the international, national and local levels. Even at the Pro level, you’ll find an impressive lineup of local and national sports programming from affiliates like FOX, NBC, ABC and CBS. Channels dedicated to sports like The Golf Channel, NFL Network, NBC Sports Network, NBA TV, fubo Sports Network, FS1, FS2, CBS Sports Network and BTN all are available as are TUDN, GOL TV and beIN Sports, some of the biggest international sports channels.

Making FuboTV an even stronger contender for sports fans is a deal with Disney that made ESPN channels available on the streamer. The lack of ESPN channels was one of the biggest drawbacks of the service, but it’s no longer an issue. This means that you can catch Monday Night Football and watch SportsCenter through FuboTV.

If you sign up for FuboTV expecting to have unrestricted access to all sports programming, you may end up disappointed. Just like cable services and other companies that stream live television, FuboTV is subject to restrictions and blackouts. Basically, sports leagues have the power to determine which teams are shown in individual local markets. This means that you can’t watch games that are restricted to local networks to which you don’t have access.

If you’re a sports fan, then chances are good that you’ll fall in love with FuboTV. People who are not dedicated to watching sports in all four seasons might be better served by the offerings from Hulu Live or YouTube TV.

How Much Does FuboTV Cost?

FuboTV offers three main subscription tiers. The least expensive of these is the Pro membership, which costs $69.99 per month. This gives you access to 132 channels including more than 100 sporting events. Each subscription is entitled to 1000 hours of cloud-based DVR space and can be watched on unlimited screens simultaneously. According to FuboTV, “unlimited screens” means being able to watch on as many as 10 devices simultaneously at home with two additional screens being out and about.

If you go with the Elite plan, you’ll get even more channels for $79.99 per month. The package includes 193 channels and promises access to more than 130 events in 4K. You get the same availability of viewing on unlimited screens and the same capacity on a cloud-based DVR. In addition, you’ll be able to view the programming on the collection of 49 channels known as fubo Extra and the 12 channels that are included in the News Plus package.

With the Ultimate package, you’ll pay $99.99 per month for everything that’s included in the Elite plan plus access to nine SHOWTIME channels plus on-demand content from that network. Also included is the Sports Plus Package with 31 additional channels.

FuboTV further offers a popular Latino subscription for $33 per month. Promising “the best Spanish language TV,” this subscription boasts 46 channels plus more than 100 sporting events. This is a very focused package, so only two screens are allowed at a time and the cloud-based DVR offers only 250 hours of space.

Extras and Add-ons

Each of FuboTV’s subscriptions starts with the same 132-channel basic package. You’ll find many familiar favorites here, including your local network affiliates. A sampling of some of the other channels includes AMC, BBC America, Bravo, E, Food Network, Fox News, USA, SyFy, IFC, Hallmark, FX, Disney Channel, FreeForm, Magnolia Network, National Geographic, Comedy Central, Discovery, ID, Animal Planet, TLC, Travel Channel, Smithsonian Channel, VH1, TV Land, Nickelodeon, MTV, CMT, OWN, Pet Collective and many others.

Some subscriptions automatically have the 49 channels that are included in the fubo Extra collection. However, you can pay $7.99 per month to add these to your membership. Among the channels are ESPNews, Tennis Channel, MLB Network, PeopleTV, a variety of Nickelodeon channels, three additional MTV channels, Nat Geo Wild, ESPNU, PAC12 Networks, Discovery Family, Outside, the Science Channel and many others.

Some viewers choose to add the News Plus package to their subscription. This 12-channel collection includes Bloomberg TV+, BBC World News, CNBC News, AfricaNews and Newsnet among others.

The SHOWTIME package is popular with many subscribers. Featuring a mix of live channels and on-demand content, this can be added to any subscription for $10.99 per month.

There’s also a Sports Plus package for $10.99 per month that gives you access to 31 sports-centric channels including Zona Futbol, MLB Strike Zone, NHL Network, NBA TV, NFL RedZone, ESPNews, Racing America and many others.

More focused packages are available too. For instance, you can add a collection of international sports networks with International Sports Plus at $6.99 per month. Basketball fans will love NBA League Pass for $14.99. If someone in your family regularly watches outdoor programming, then they’ll want to pay $4.99 per month for the Adventure Plus package.

Other add-on options include five EPIX channels for $5.99 per month or a huge package of STARZ live channels and on-demand content for $8.99 per month. Get the Latino Plus collection for $19.99 or enjoy TV5MONDE, a French-language television network, for $9.99 per month.

What Devices Work with FuboTV?

You can watch on pretty much any device in your home including your PC, laptop or tablet. Use a Roku or Fire device, Chromecast, Xbox or Apple TV as well.

Viewing Your FuboTV Account

FuboTV is easy to use. If you need to make any changes to your subscription, just visit the FuboTV website using your laptop, PC or tablet. You’ll have to do a bit of typing, so it probably doesn’t make sense to use your smartphone.

Navigate to https://www.fubo.tv and click on the “Sign In” button on the top right-hand side of the screen. Enter your email address and password to gain access to your account.

Once you are signed in, you have many options from which to choose. For instance, if you want to change you basic package, simply select Subscription & Billing on the left-hand side of the page. You’ll see a label that says “Current Plan.” Select “Manage.”

Scan the options to see what’s available, and then click on the button that says “Select this plan” next to the desired option. When selected, this button will turn orange. Review your changes, and then click on “Update Subscription.” You’ll be asked to confirm your changes, and you’re done.

Similarly, you have the option to add or remove add-ons from your My Account screen. From the home screen, click on your profile icon at the top right-hand side of the screen. Choose “Manage Add-ons” from the drop-down menu. If you see an Add-on that you’d like to include in your subscription, just click the “+” next to this option on the screen. Removing an add-on is just as easy. Just click on the check mark next to any add-ons that you currently have to remove it from your subscription. Review your changes, then click “Update Subscription.” You’ll be asked to confirm before your changes are finalized.

It makes sense to be aware that if you make changes to your bundle plan, these will take effect immediately. If you move from a larger package to a smaller one, you’ll lose access to those additional channels right away. Opting for a package that costs more than your current bundle will result in the immediate charge of a prorated amount based on the number of days remaining in the current billing cycle. Similarly, you will receive a prorated credit on your next bill if you switch from a larger package to a smaller bundle.

Cancelling your FuboTV account is just as easy as making changes. Just sign in on the website, click on your profile and choose “My Account.” Select “Subscription and Billing,” and then navigate to the bottom of the screen where you can click on “Cancel Subscription.” Click on “Complete Cancellation,” at which time, you may be offered an opportunity to pause rather than cancel your subscription. Choose the one that’s right for you, and you’re done.

If you would rather try to find an answer without picking up the phone, consider entering search terms in the search bar at the top of the screen. A few “Quick Help” options additionally are available on the screen, which can help you to efficiently access the answers to common questions.

If FuboTV Worth It?

If you are a sports fan, it is difficult to imagine any streaming service being better tailored to your tastes. Whether your sport of choice is soccer, football, baseball, basketball or something else, you will find channels for it here.

That said, FuboTV is not entirely about sports. You’ll find plenty of informative and entertaining network options, many of which are already familiar from your former cable subscription.

Still, FuboTV seems kind of expensive, and you can probably get a better mix of channels on options such as Hulu Live or YouTube TV as long as you are not a die-hard sports fan. Of course, you can view sports on those services as well, so it really depends upon your personal viewing preferences.

FuboTV routinely offers free seven-day trials if you’d like to take the service for a test drive without making a commitment.

Please help keep this site alive, it takes a lot of work for one person and it’s getting much less rewarding to keep running this because of how the internet is changing. Any help is appreciated, thank you.
