Recessionistas: Coining A New Budget Term

Recessionistas out there need to know the most stylish and affordable places to shop and what to look for. Realistically, you’re a girl that’s not going to spend more than $50 on a pair of jeans, right?

Especially since you know you’re going to lose those 10 extra pounds you promised yourself you would. The three best places to find affordable jeans in your area are: Target, Wal-Mart, Kohls and K-Mart. Times have changed. Five years ago I wouldn’t be recommending these places for quality, designer-looking products. These stores have redefined themselves and become more stylish, more sophisticated. All of these stores have commissioned well-known designers to create affordable lines for people just like us. Proenza Schouler, Isaac Mizrahi, Vera Wang, and Jaclyn Smith are all amazing designers that have partnered with these stores to give you the best deals. So the next time you’re at Target picking up some detergent or toilet paper, wander over to the jeans and check them out. Look at the wash, darker always looks more expensive and classy.

Check out the rise, somewhere between low rise and high rise is the most classic and will typically be the best fit. One thing, make sure they are long enough, even a little too long. Most jeans shrink in length no matter how much you spend on them and if they’re too long after you throw them in the dryer, you can always spend $10 to get them tailored. Ladies, jeans are an essential wardrobe item but there’s no reason you should be spending enough to buy a whole wardrobe on one pair. Good Luck!

Fashion Tips for Finer Aged Women

If you think that, because you’re – pick one – 40+, 50+, 60+, 70+, 80+year old woman, you can’t wear the new hairstyles modeled by 20+ women, here’s a newsflash for you: YOU’RE WRONG! Age has very little to do with a good hairstyle.

Many hairstyles are classics; look at Queen Elizabeth, for instance. She’s been wearing her regal style for years, and it suits her. The short full cut favored by Princess Diana, the gamine look worn so successfully by Audrey Hepburn , the thick, spiky dark locks Liza Minelli made famous, Edith Head’s dark bangs, Jane Fonda’s fabulous shag in “Klute,” and Barbra Streisand’s sleek long bob are all classic styles.

Those of us over 40 can honestly say that we’ve seen hairstyles come and go, and have also seen styles of our youth repeated years later. The new hair products alone make some of the styling we enjoy today possible. Back when I started going to what was then known as a “beauty parlor,” the choices were pretty slim; a basic haircut, a poodle perm, some pretty lightless all-over permanent coloring, and shellac-based hairspray. Hairstyle Choices Now that we are all alive and well in the 2000s, we have more hairstyle choices than ever.

You can see wonderful styles everywhere—on magazine covers, newspapers, talk shows, soaps, TV sitcoms, etc. But the disturbing truth is that you mainly see these fabulous styles on young women. Does this mean that, after 30, our hair choices go in the proverbial dustbin?

Absolutely not! A good hairstyle lends itself to many variations, and is not limited to certain ages. Yes, of course there are some styles that are definitely too young–for example, girly little ponytails high on either side of the head, secured with pink plastic bows probably aren’t going to work for someone over the age of 9. Do Your Homework So, what does the smart, good-looking, stylish woman in her 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and up do to get a trendy new style? Simple: choose a style that you like, and one that you think will work well with your type of hair. As always, do your homework before you see your stylist:

1. Keep your mind open to the possibilities. Get a good idea of what you want, but keep your stylist’s advice in mind on what might work well for you.
2. Take the time to discuss your own lifestyle with regard to hair—your personality, how much time you have to devote to haircare in the mornings, and so on.
3. Bring some pictures with you of the kinds of styles you like. With these in mind, your stylist can better create your own style.
4. Don’t let yourself be shampooed right away. Talk over what you want while your hair is dry so that your stylist can see your hair in its natural state.
5. Once you have your new style, give it some time before you make your final decision; it takes a while to get used to something new. But if after a few days you are still not sure, go right back to your stylist to get help on how to make the style work better for you.

Clothes, Make Up, Hair and Body Type Tips

When it comes to clothes, hair, make-up, skin & body type? You could say i am there. I being a mom in my 40s know about budget right now. I buy my clothes from yard sales in the spring and summer time. You would be surprised at the bargains and clothes you can find out there that are in really pretty good shape. With the economy right now most woman over the age of 35 and up are very conscious about how much to buy and how to watch for bargains.

Department stores are becoming more budget friendly these days. If you look they are there. Even designer brands that have been marked down so far that you will want to buy it. Hair is another story in itself. Hair to woman and how it looks is very important. If you are a soccer mom, carpool mom, etc then you are on the run. You want your hair to be in the ready set go mode. You need to run your comb through your hair and get a hair barrette and go. I being a busy mom does that from time to time.

If i am going somewhere that i want to have my hair looking like i just stepped out of a salon then sure i will do what i can on a budget which always works. Woman like to pamper themselves by going to the salons and the manicures and pedicures as well. We love to be pampered. On a budget yes you can do it and look good while doing it on a budget. Make-up has become more budget friendly as well and the not so heavy when putting it on. It goes on much lighter then it use to.

Finding the right colors you need to be careful and make sure it is for your skin type and matches your tones. Never want to get something that will make you have lines and look to dark or to pale. Woman as we get older we want to have our skin looking so and young. Using creams and moisturizers always take care of that. DO not get anything to heavy but something that feels light but will accent your skins tones. Lotion can make you or break you. If you have dry skin you need something of course for dry skin. Aging creams work well for those who want to get rid of a few fine lines in the face without going out to get plastic surgery or Botox and pay the money for that.

Buying the creams from your favorite department store or cosmetic store will work as they will usually have good prices right now. You can even try the drugstores and places such as that. Just know that fashion and hair and make up for us woman over 35 to 55 plus is never out of our reach. Just finding the right places to go and on the budget friendly you need right now to achieve that look will come forth.

Fashion for All Ages

When you are entering your mid thirties you feel that you are turning old and stay out of fashion. Fashion is for all ages and the right fashion depends on what fashions we choose and how we carry them.

A perfectly fitting jeans along with a casual top with full sleeves would look great on ladies aged 35 – 55. Wearing clothes that are revealing and short and exposing will look very ill-fitting and inappropriate for ladies aged above 35. Formal wears like an over coat or a jersey would look great on ladies aged above 35. A nice head scarf covering the head are the most appropriate fashion suitable for women aged 35 – 55. Wearing dress that is too flashy would look inapt on women above 35. Wearing hair high or leaving those free are perfect fashion for such age groups. Cotton wears are the best and most comfortable dressing option for grownup ladies.

They also can be purchased at reasonable and affordable rates. While selecting makeup women should take care not to overdo them and rather do a simple makeup such as a good foundation cream along with a light colour lipstick. A simple chain along with a silver bracelet will perfectly match her, making her look more classy and refined. Caring the skin is necessary to avoid wrinkles and make her look younger. A good anti wrinkle cream and a good sunscreen lotion is all that she requires for protecting her skin and avoiding the wrinkles. Such women can also apply any homemade or natural face packs to keep the skin healthy and fresh. When you are getting older you need to reform yourself and have a makeover done to look better.
