You should use coconut milk instead. It’s thicker..and tastes better than soy. Also easier to digest. It’s actually a great substitute for buttermilk because it’s thick and slightly tangy IF you get it from the can. Cardboard carton milks are always thinner I have noticed (watered down for drinking I suppose).
Almond milk is best on cereal because it’s a little bit more watery and the nut flavor blends with the nuts in cereals.
As for butter..coconut butter..or Earth Balance and Smart Balance are so close tasting to butter that no one in my family notices when I swap it out.
Now as or CHEESE. Good luck lol. I havn’t found a good sub yet. And I’ve wasted a lot of money looking for one. If you ever try a Tofurkey pizza..the soy cheese on there is really good. No idea how they make it though.
So far, Bocca and some local brands are the only vegan meats available. There’s a lot of vegetarian ones but they still use egg or milk in it. Etc. Morning Star, Gardenburger, Quorn (not sure if I spelled that right sorry) all contain some sort of animal product. SOME contain Carmine..which is insects. YUCK.
